I went to Cooper School of Art in Cleveland which was down the street from CIA. I could not afford the Cleveland Institute of Art, unfortunately, even though my GI bill paid for 5 years of schooling back in the 70′s. My main painting teacher was Anthony Schepis who also taught at CIA as well as Cooper. I took the fine art path at Cooper (which was focused on studio/illustration) arts but this was before the internet. I saw the future (fortunately) and moved to California, then got a job at Apple, then Adobe, then a dozen startups but none of that made me happy. At 58 years of age, you give me hope and guidance every week with your posts. Thank you SO much.

Networking and marketing are critical!

I do look forward to seeing what you have on my Saturday mornings…and miss your notes when they’re not there. Have greatly appreciated your viewpoint.

Rule #21 from my soon to be published book, “SELL YOUR ART without Selling Out, 101 Rules” is…

It’s not about you,
it’s about them.
When you make it about them,
then it will be about you.

Watched your interview with Kate Bradley, and then researched good website examples as I embark on establishing my own. The part of the interview, “it’s not about you!” was ringing in my head as I viewed dozens of websites where it was just that – ALL about the artist with not much concern for why someone would be at their website. One of the many reasons I stay connected with you and Artists Who Thrive. Keep it up, you make my week!
