Below is an example of the messages that I received just yesterday.

thank you. I’m glad that your enjoying the articles.
How do you determine the “true value” of your work?
I enjoy reading your posts, as they give me encouragement for dealing with the business side of being an artist. I have taken fairly well to the marketing end of things, however, I struggle with the basic operational tasks of running a business (bookkeeping, budgeting, day to day operations stuff). I am looking to develop partnerships with local business people to help me with this, and, luckily, I am in a community where there is interest in arts/business partnerships.
I have developed a niche following through social media for which I am very grateful. Still yet, I have not found a collector following that will purchase my art for its true value. I would love to hear more from you about how you developed your following and how other artists can tap into a more affluent collector following.
I am an avid blogger and tweeter. I often blog about my journey of becoming a creative entrepreneur. I would be happy to guest post for you sometime.
You may want to learn more about what defines a “brand”. It’s not just a description of what you do.
Hmmmmm…Good question. My “brand” is that I am a pet artist who loves pets and the people who love them. I do commissioned pet portraits, and people tell me that they like: 1-My unique colorful and semi-abstract style; 2-The fact that I capture each animal’s character and “essence” in a unique style; and 3-The fact that they know that I care deeply about animals and animal causes. I take special care to develop an ongoing relationship with my patrons through our love for animals.
I have been told that my artwork would appeal to a more luxury market. Being one of humble circumstances myself, however, I suspect that my awkwardness about the concept of luxury may come through a bit.
Everyone’s path to developing their following is different. If you want to target the luxury market then you’ll first need to develop a luxury brand. Have you done that?
