I remember hearing in art school:
“Young artists just don’t have much of substance to say.”
“They haven’t found their voice.”
“The haven’t lived enough life so they don’t have anything real to reflect upon.”
Not so of a young artist who I coach, Aiden Kringen, a 21 year old Fine Art Illustrator.
His top ten rules will be included in my book, “Selling your Art without selling Art, 101 Rules.”
Many thanks again to those of you who took the time to offer your valuable feedback on the cover.
Please let me know what you think of the latest iteration of the cover and title above.
- Create opportunities for commissions and more sales of your artwork by asking previous clients. It’s right in front of you.
- Build a fan base for your artwork by starting with your friends and family. Ask for support from everyone you know and then ask them to spread the word about your artwork.
- Create a meaningful and valuable business and NOT an artistic career.
- Think of the buyer and stop thinking of yourself.
- Set a S.M.A.R.T.E.R. goal and accomplish it. It has been one of the most gratifying things I have ever learned.
- Take matters into your own hands and take control of your profit margin. Don’t be a victim of your own life as an artist.
- Add value to other people’s lives through your artwork in a way that is unique to you and what you care about.
- Simply start making money doing what you always wanted to do by being an artist. It is simpler than I could have imagined.
- Be sure in your decision to do something and be realistic about what to expect from yourself.
- Start from step 1, “Visioning” is the process of becoming a profitable artist and have the patience to make it to the very last step no matter what.

Thank you and you’re welcome. It actually is a book of 101 Rules
Hi Ann,
I am loving the fresh feeling of this cover…if you are still taking feedback, here’s a few thoughts…
I agree with Aiden…At least the first line should be bigger…and the 2nd one in either another font and on one line could be cool…right now it’s more oriented to looking good on the Web than in your hands as a book is my thought…
Regarding the subtitle…I keep sticking on the word “Rules”…seems like such a left-brain concept sternly stopping the upward flow of energy as you read the exciting title…words like guidelines, lifelines, foundation, supportive, etc register better with my creative self…
Thanks also for sharing about the World Domination summit…may be there next year myself!
Thank you Skye!
I love the way you did the new graphic for the book. Feels dynamic and fresh.
I like the font aligned right. I’m wondering what it would look like if you put “without selling out” on one line, and perhaps play with having two font types.
Thank you for reminding me that I have power as an artist entrepreneur.
You’re welcome and thank you!
Thanks for the shoutout Ann, and posting my lessons learned. I think these covers look great, the only thing I would say is that the title should be bigger. But otherwise, I’m excited for it.
